It was the 14th of March, 2018, Dean found out his Marketing Manager role was being made redundant.
With nowhere to go and a failing eCommerce side hustle, he had few options.
Broke, desperate, and immobilized living with his parents in Torquay.
He took action, knocked on doors and made a living helping Small Businesses (SME’s) and eCommerce brands grow online.
In his first year of Business, his approach had enabled his first handful of clients inspiring results.
He transformed (4X) a gift business into a scaling (and hyper profitable) subscription business.
He catapulted a Yoga Brand from $15K a month through to $120K per month.
He developed the ‘Big Idea’, and ran the digital advertising to enable a world-first crystal-infused soft-drink to go from $0 through to $53K per month in less than 6 months.
Things were on the way up.
And – to top it all off – he did his first international keynote. At Dojo Bali, he spoke about the nexus of direct-response and digital marketing.
Something he would later be known for.
After his first 6+ Figure year in business and having too much fun living the ‘Digital Nomad’ life, Dean felt as if he achieved the ‘4-Hour Workweek’ dream.
But, for him, it was a whole lot less fulfilling than what he expected.
Dean found great satisfaction in building up younger marketers to become the best professionals they could be.
And with this knowledge and the flexibility of growth at his fingertips, the team doubled in size to…. 2 team members (including him).
Like a lot of Entrepreneurs/Marketers (here’s a damaging admission if you’ve ever seen one), we’re excellent at growing businesses.
We’re simply not the best at managing people.
And through this experience, the business changed shape from one built around freedom to impact.
In 2019, we got our first taste of the SAAS Business Model.
And oh boy – we’ve loved drinking the nectar of T2D3 Growth ever since.
But, as Gary Halbert says, ‘The Street Learns Best’.
As we scaled, the transition from serving SME to SAAS and Enterprises revealed to us we needed to work better with Marketing Managers.
To begin with, it was tough.

Luckily, we were tough (and we grew so much in that year). But, what happened in the next two years we never saw coming.
We were an early-stage services business in Victoria.
We were ineligible for a single cent of government support.
We helped physical businesses unable to trade.
They couldn’t (or wouldn’t) pay our bills.
They had to pause all work with us.
That was our life for almost two years. And, honestly, it was the most stressful experience of our lives.
But, the fact we made it out the other end alive yet scattered, told us something about how we do things.
We’re lean. We don’t do cushy hires. We run a tight ship. And we’re sustainable because of it.
We don’t give up. And we know how to hustle.
When the biggest names in Advertising and Digital Marketing were dropping like flies, we were one of the last agencies still standing.
But, as they say, what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger.
Through the power of our intentions, our ship kept sailing in the right direction.
We not only survived.
We came out stronger, with systems and processes.
